Phoenix Suns to stop slump

Phoenix Suns to stop slump

The Phoenix Suns are hoping to finally halt collapsing when they meet with the Sacramento Kings. The Kings on the other hand is hoping for the same things as their current results does not look good as well. Both teams are coming from a two-game losing streak before this match. Suns suffered a 122-111 defeat against the Lakers, just right after their defeat against the Thunder. Kings on the other hand was defeated by the Jazz, and suffered a 132-109 defeat against the Celtics. This meeting will be hosted by the Kings on March 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM (GMT+8).

This will be the fourth and the last time that these two teams will meet in the regular season. For their past three meetings, it was the visitors who have more wins, winning their first two meetings. These two teams are aiming to finally end their two-game losing streak, in preparation for the playoffs. In the Western Conference, these two teams are just next to each other, with the hosts at the top. The hosts are at the third in the West with 43 wins from their 72 games. The visitors on the other hand are at the fourth of the Western Conference with38 wins from their 72 games.

Despite their recent slump, the Suns are still fortunate that they were able to cling to the fourth spot in the West. For their last 10 games, they split their results, winning five and losing to five. As they are in a losing run, they are hopeful to finally get back to winning ways, especially that the playoffs is getting near. On their last game, it was actually a close game, but the Lakers were able to outscore the Suns in the fourth quarter. It was a 34-26 scoring in the fourth, that gave Lakers the opportunity to pull away. Currently, they are shooting 46.7% in the field, and 79.3% in the free-throws. This is actually an impressive record already, and they need to take advantage of this record. Offensively, they are at the 18th with 113.3 points per game, and fourth in defense, allowing 111.8 points per game.

With the absence of Kevin Durant, and Deandre Ayton, other players need to step-up. Fortunately, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul who scores 28.1 and 13.6 points per game apiece are still there to lead the Suns.

Just like the Suns, the Kings are no better as they are also in a two-game losing streak, but are still fortunate to be at the third. In their past 10 games, they won six of those and lost to four, which is not that impressive. Due to this, they also want to add more wins in order to widen their lead in the West. Their 132-109 loss against the Celtics marks the first time since February 3 that they lost to two consecutive match. Their turnovers are what ended Kings’ hopes of earning a win, as they had 14 turnovers. Additionally, on that match, they allowed Celtics to shoot 53.3% from the field. Kings on the other hand are shooting over 49.7% in the field this season. They are also doing well in the free-throw line, shooting 79.3%. They are the first in offense, scoring 120.9 points per game, but 28th in defense, allowing 118.5 points per game.

De’Aaron Fox, and Domantas Sabonis continues to lead the Kings with 25.4 and 19 points respectively. However, Kevin Huerter remains to be absent for the Kings due to his injury.
