Spain had a comfortable 5-1 win against Switzerland during the knockout stage over the weekend. Due to this win, they were able to qualify in the last eight of the contest for the first time ever. On that match, it was Aitana Bonmati who first bagged a goal for Spain. After her, the likes of Alba Redondo, Jennifer Hermoso, and Laia Codina, were all able to provide goals as well. Moreover, when it comes to going against each other, Spain has a good momentum against the Netherlands. In fact, they have won three straight matches against the Netherlands, without conceding a single goal. Additionally, across all contests, they were able to win nine of their last 10 games, giving them a good momentum here. Although entering the quarterfinals is already a record for Spain, they are still looking to enter the semis for the first time ever.

Spain is hopeful that Ivana Andres can return here, as she is already out for their last two matches due to an injury. Moreover, Catalina Coll is retaining her place for this match, after she replaced Misa Rodriguez in this match.

Netherlands on the other hand were able to enter the quarterfinals when they escaped South Africa in the knockout stage. Goals from Jill Roord, and Lineth Beerensteyn helped the Netherlands to reach this stage in the contest. However, unlike Spain, Netherlands already have the experience advantage, as they finished as the runners-up last season. However, this time, Netherlands are looking to go all-out, especially that they now have bigger advantage. Although Spain has a slight advantage when it comes to their meetings, Netherlands will not back down. Defense is their number one strength, because against Spain, they only conceded one goal. Additionally, five of their last six games ended with victory, which will be helpful for them here. As the Netherlands aiming to qualify once again in the final round, expect that they will be a team will give their all here.

Netherlands will be without Merel dan Dongen, as he suffered an ankle injury during their training. Moreover, Danielle van de Donk is serving a one-match suspension as she already have two yellow cards. With that, Damaris Egurrola could be rewarded a position as a starter due to van de Donk’s absence.
