Senegal, Qatar, to catch-up after opener defeats

Senegal, Qatar, to catch-up after opener defeats

Senegal and Qatar are two teams who failed to win their opening match, and are now meeting in a very crucial match. These two teams actually have the same result coming into this game with a 0-2 result. Qatar lost to Ecuador while Senegal lost to the Netherlands on their last match. This meeting will be on November 25, 2022, at 9:00 PM (GMT+8). These are two teams hopeful to escape the group stage, despite the low expectations of them in the World Cup. This is a very crucial match for these two teams because a win keeps them alive in the competition.

In fact, there is only a little expectation for these two countries when they qualified for the World Cup. Qatar actually never qualified for a single World Cup, but they qualified here only because they are the hosts. As for Senegal, this is only the third time they qualified for the World Cup, with quarter-finals as their best finish. This will be the first time these two teams meet, and both are looking to claim their first victory in the 2022 World Cup. During their last matches, they managed to pick up one draw and four successive victories. However, they were not able to extend their streak when they suffered defeat versus Ecuador. As for Senegal, they lost two of their last three competitive matches. Coming into this game, they do not want the same result.

Coming into this game, Senegal looks better than their opponent, despite losing their last match against the Netherlands. That game, although they were defeated by the Netherlands in a 2-0 loss, they were still able to make things difficult for the Netherlands. However, they must be worried because some of their key players are going to miss this match due to injuries. Currently, this squad is the 18th in the World according to the rankings. As they face Qatar, they are hopeful to finally get their first victory in the World Cup.

Abdou Diallo will return in this match, after experiencing cramps during their friendlies against Holland. However, Cheikhou Kouyate remains unavailable in this match after a muscle problem on their last match.

World Cup: Qatar

Qatar sets the record for being the only World Cup hosts who lost their opening match when they were defeated by Ecuador. They were defeated by Ecuador in a 2-0 loss, which, according to their manager, is because they are nervous. It is acceptable though because they are first-timers in the World Cup, and are the hosts in this edition. Since USA in 1994, they are the first host who have no shot in the Finals. However, Qatar can no longer afford losses, as they need more wins in order to keep their hopes alive.

Qatar’s goalkeeper, Saad Al Sheeb is very unstable in their previous match against Ecuador, so they need to work on it.
