Portugal, starts to impress vs Ghana

Portugal, starts to impress vs Ghana

Portugal is looking to start impressing the world, when they open their World Cup campaign against Ghana. Ghana on the other hand eyes to try to seal the second spot at least, since Portugal will likely secure the top spot. These two teams will lock horns on November 25, 2022, at 12:00 AM (GMT+8). With all the dramas surrounding Ronaldo, Portugal is now focused more to finally get the title they never received. Ghana on one hand is hoping to pull-off an upset in this match.

This match will only be the second meeting between these two teams throughout their history, as the first was from 2014 World Cup. On that 2014 World Cup meeting, it was Portugal who won that match, a 2-1 victory. That time, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the winning goal for his squad. Ghana on the other hand recorded the best finish an African team could have. This is when they recorded a quarter-final finish in the World Cup, way back 2010. They are now making their fourth appearance in the contest, and are hoping to go far this year.

Portugal is one of the favorites to win the title this year, as they have one of the most powerful squads in the tournament. It is not surprising though, since they have Cristiano Ronaldo on their squad. They are coming into this match with a dominating win against Nigeria last week with a score of 4-0. Now, they are hoping to receive the same result as they begin their campaign in the World Cup. However, despite having a very strong line-up, it is surprising that they are still not able to win at least a title. With a star-studded squad, and a very impressive form, it is no longer shocking that they will go far in the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo, and Bernardo Silva will surely lead their squad in their campaign. However, they have a big concern here, following the Nuno Mendes’ injury scare.

Ghana on one hand has the best World Cup record among African countries when they reached the quarter-finals in 2010. During the qualifiers, they managed to be on top of their group, which made them prove that they are one of the best African team. On their last game, Ghana was able to go past Switzerland in a 2-0 win. They are hoping to beat their best record in the World Cup, and try to win over Portugal in this game. After all, this is not impossible as this team was already able to upset giant names in the World Cup in the past.

Thomas Partey, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Alexander Djiku will all come back in this match after being sidelined in their previous games.

Prediction:

Portugal (1.5)
Odds: 0.86
