Portugal bids for eight straight wins

Portugal is looking for their eighth straight wins in the Euro Qualifiers when they face Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite being qualified. These two teams actually have renewed confidence coming into this game, as both are coming from their respective wins. Portugal secured a 3-2 win against Slovakia, which earned them a qualification in the 2024 Euro. On the other hand, Bosnia and Herzegovina is also from a 2-0 win against Liechtenstein. This win gives Bosnia a better chance to earn a qualification for the 2024 Euro. This is only the sixth time that these two teams will meet, with all meetings coming from their World Cup qualifiers, and the European Championship. Portugal is unbeaten in these matches against Bosnia, having an unbeaten record. This meeting is on October 17, 2023, at 2:45 AM (GMT+8).

Portugal secured qualification for Euro 2024 with a 3-2 win over Slovakia, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace. Under coach Roberto Martinez, Portugal has a perfect record in Group J, winning all seven games, scoring 27 times, and conceding two. They are eight points ahead of Slovakia, while Luxembourg is 10 points behind. Portugal has not lost since their quarter-final loss to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, and their experience in the competition makes them a favorite to win the European Championship. The Iberian nation, which won Euro 2016 and has a history of success, will face Liechtenstein and Iceland in their last two games.

Despite their win, there could be slight changes for their squad. Goncalo Inacio, and Nelson Semedo could potentially come in here. Moreover, Ruben Neves, and Vitinha are also likely to be brought in the midfield. However, their key players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Joao Palhinha, and Rafael Leao could be put to the bench.

Bosnia-Herzegovina is in fourth position in Group J, with nine points collected from seven matches. They are four points behind Slovakia and will not finish in the top two if they lose to Portugal or Slovakia overcome Luxembourg. Savo Milosevic’s team has been successful in two of their last three matches, including a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein. Bosnia-Herzegovina has another possible route to qualification, as they have secured a position in the playoffs due to their UEFA Nations League ranking. Their journey to Euro 2024 will not be finished even if results go against them on Monday. The Dragons have never qualified for the finals of a European Championship, but were present at the 2014 World Cup.

Fortunately for Bosnia, they have no fresh injury concerns coming into this match. With that, it is expected that they will name the same squad here. However, they remain without some of their important players due to injuries. Adnan Kovacevic, Rade Krunic, Benjamin Tahirovic, and Kenan Kodro are all unavailable here.

Prediction:

Portugal (2.0)
Odds: -0.88
