Nottingham Forest to rise up

Nottingham Forest is looking to bounce back against Sheffield United, who are also looking to bounce back, following their opener defeat. Nottingham and Sheffield are two teams who failed to open their Premier League campaign strong. During the opener, Nottingham suffered a 2-1 loss against Arsenal to open their campaign. Meanwhile, for Sheffield, they suffered a 1-0 loss against Crystal Palace, failing their attempt to have a strong opener. Due to this loss, these two teams are at the bottom part of the league table, at the 14th and 17th respectively. The meeting between Nottingham and Sheffield is on August 19, 2023, at 2:45 AM (GMT+8), as Nottingham welcome Sheffield.

This meeting will be the first time in three decades that these two teams will meet in the Premier League. They last met each other in the contest in May 1993, where it was the visitors who bagged a 2-0 win against the hosts. However, when it comes to playing on the road, it seems like the visitors are not doing well, winning only one of their last 13 away matches against the hosts. Moreover, for the visitors, it is the other way around as actually doing well at home. In fact, for their last three home games in the league last season, they were able to pick up three consecutive wins. This match is important for two teams, as they do not want to build a losing momentum as early as now.

During their match against Arsenal, Nottingham conceded as much as 79% of their possession, which is why it is not surprising that they lost that match. Arsenal already lead by two-goals, before Nottingham had a consolation goal. On that match, although they were very limited in chasing Arsenal, Nottingham hanged until the end. They had a chance until the end of the match, as Taiwo Awoniyi had a goal in the 82nd minute of the contest. Fortunately for Nottingham, they were able to survive the relegation last season, finishing four points above the 18th spot. Coming into this game, Nottingham are hoping to at least get a positive result, to avoid another scare in the future. Fortunately, they could gain confidence from the fact that they are playing at home.

Omar Richards is still unavailable without the long-term injury, same as Felipe, and Wayne Hennessey remains to be on the sideline. Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to have a start here, while Moussa Niakhate nears his full fitness.

Sheffield on the other hand is also a team who failed to have a strong start in their Premier League campaign. They just returned in the Premier League, which is the reason why they are yet to adjust in the contest. In the contest, Sheffield were really limited when it comes to attack. The Palace registered eight shots, while Sheffield only had one shot. Moreover, they only have a 61% pass success rate, which does not seem positive at all. As they come into this game, they need to step up their game, so they could avoid a disappointment in the contest. However, it seems like their adjustment may take a while, as they have yet to find their groove. Last season, they lost some of their stars due to transfers, so expect them not to be in their good shape here.

Sheffield has a lengthy injury list coming into this match. Fleck, Brewster, Coulibaly, Bogle, Jebbison, McBurnie, and Norrington-Davies.
