Manchester United to claim first leg

Manchester United is eager to draw first blood for their first leg quarter-finals match against Sevilla in the Europa League. Man United eliminated two La Liga giants before they qualified in the quarter-finals. They were able to eliminate Barcelona and Real Betis, giving them a ticket for the next round. Sevilla on the other hand were able to overcome PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbahce to qualify for the quarter-finals. These two teams are hopeful that they cannot bring their misfortunes domestically in the European stage. This meeting will be on April 14, 2023, at 3:00 AM (GMT+8), with Man United as hosts.

These two teams only had three meetings in their history, and from those three meetings, it was the visitors who has an excellent record. However, in those three matches, the hosts are actually winless against the visitors. The visitors won two of those three meetings, while the other one game ended in draw. Although their campaign this season is not what they expected to be, the hosts are still optimistic for another title. With that, they will aim to win this series for another silverware. The visitors on the other hand are confident to play in this match considering their previous record. They are now aiming to inch closer and reclaim their title in the contest.

Man United is currently at the fourth of the Premier League league table, and fortunately, they have been impressive recently. They are coming into this game with a good momentum, as they are from a win in their domestic campaign. Man United had a 2-0 win against Everton on their last match, and are now looking for the same result in this game. This is not impossible though as they have been impressive recently, which is positive for them. Moreover, Man United also showed notable improvements this season. Considering how powerful their opponents are before they qualified here, it is safe to say that Man United is capable of pulling an upset here. Moreover, Man United is hopeful to lift another trophy this season, which is why they are going all-out here.

Unfortunately, they will be without Marcus Rashford, after he sustained a groin injury against Everton in their match over the weekend. Man United announced that he is set to miss a few games, starting in this match. Luke Shaw, Donny van de Beek, Ton Heaton, and Alejandro Garnacho will all remain sidelined here. Casemiro meanwhile is returning in this game.

Sevilla on the other hand have been underwhelming recently in their domestic campaign. In fact, they are sitting at the 13th of the La Liga league table, failing to be at their best so far this season. Coming into this game, they are from a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo over the weekend. As this game is a crucial match, they are aiming to make amends from their performance and take an early advantage in this match. However, they need to be at their best as they have been struggling recently. They will be going against a team who is very hungry for another title due to their drought. With that, they will need to address their issues in order to stand a chance for the quarter-finals.

Fortunately for Sevilla, Lucas Ocampos will finally return for them after serving his suspension. However, they will remain to be without Joan Jordan, and Jesus Manuel Corona, who are still recovering from injuries. Meanwhile, Pape Cheikh is also out, as he in ineligible here.
