Manchester City completes history

Manchester City finally earned a Champions League title for the first time, on the time where they were able to complete their treble. Man City‘s 1-0 win against Inter Milan is their key to make history in the European stage. When Man City won the Premier League title, their coach, Pep Guardiola expressed their aim for the Champions League title. According to him, they still cannot be called one of the best teams without the title. Even if they won the FA Cup title weeks after, they continue their hunt for the Champions League title. Now that they were finally able to win the title, it is safe to say that Man City is one of the best teams in Europe.

Rodri’s lone goal in that match helped Man City to win the title in the Champions League this season. Additionally, Rodri was also named to be the Champions League Player of the Season for his stellar performance in the 2022-23 season. This award is no longer surprising though, as he showed an extraordinary performance this season. In fact, he made appearance in all but one of Man City’s matches this season in the contest. With that, Rodri proves that he is a key piece for Man City, as he was able to step-up when others could not.

This title marks Pep Guardiola’s third title in the contest, where he last won the title 12 years ago with FC Barcelona. He then joined the elite club of the coaches who win the title thrice, but his first for Man City. According to him, “It’s so difficult to win,” stressing that this first title for Man City is already “written in the stars.” This seems to be true though, as they had a tough journey going to the Finals. Man City needs to defeat RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid to reach the Finals. Man City were once again proven to be an unstoppable team.

Inter has had their chance on their chances in this match, but Man City is just too much for them. In fact, they were able to apply their game plan, which is to limit Haaland. During the first half, they were able to limit Haaland to only nine touches. Their defense on him was unbreakable, thus, Haaland was not able to add a goal to his tally. Additionally, they were also able to stop guys like De Bruyne, but was not prepared for Rodri’s attack.

A win in this match could have been Inter fourth title in the contest, which they last won in 2012. Their title drought in Champions League made them eager to win here. However, it is just unfortunate that they cannot find ways to stop Man City, who have been dominant all season. They might have won in stopping Haaland, but Man City could not care anymore, after winning the title.
