Lakers, Hawks, to bounce back from losses

Lakers, Hawks, to bounce back from losses

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks are both aiming to bounce back from their losses on their last matches. Lakers are from a loss against the Heat on their last meeting. This is not surprising though as they already lost five of their last six meetings. As for the Hawks, they are also not doing well as they are also having a not good momentum right now. They lost three of their last four meetings. In fact, on their last game, they fell short against the Nets in a 108-107 loss, a narrow defeat. This meeting will be on December 31, 2022, at 8:30 AM (GMT+8), when the Hawks entertain the Lakers.

The Lakers are currently at the 13th of the Western Conference with 14 wins and 21 losses. Now that they will play on the road, they might be a little unlucky here as they are not doing well on the road. Currently, they only have six wins from their 19 matches on the road, which is not optimistic at all. As for the Hawks, they are at the ninth of the Eastern Conference, a safer spot compared to the Lakers. They are with a record of 17-18, and are doing well at home, winning 11 matches from their 18 home games.

The Lakers continues to struggle this season, and have failed to have the run they really need this season to be able to reach at least the playoffs. During mid-November and until the early December, they had a good run, but have failed to continue their run. They lost nine of their last 13 games, but are luck to still pick up a 19-point victory against the Magic last Wednesday. However, their happiness did not last long, as they lost to the Heat the day after that. Additionally, they are also now the third-worst team in the Western Conference, a record they want to change. When it comes to offense, they are doing quite well, being at the 8th of the league, having a 115.6 points per game. In defense, they are the 27th in the league, surrendering 117.6 points per game.

Lebron James continues to lead the Lakers with 27.8 points per game. Anthony Davis is at their second best scorer, having 27.4 points per game.

The absence of Trae Young hurts the Hawks the most, but it is not surprising though considering that he is one of their main players. They were not able to sustain their strong start this season. In fact, coming into this game, they lost three of their last four matches, including their most-recent loss against the Nets. The Hawks had their chances but the talents of the Nets is just too much for them. Additionally, the Hawks is a completely different team without Young. With that, the Hawks have failed to take the lead in their last meeting. The Hawks are currently in the 14th in offense with 114.3 points per game, and the 19th in defense, surrendering 115.1 points per game.

Trae Young is still a doubt in this game, as he is still recovering from his calf injury. Clint Capela and De’Andre Hunter are both unavailable in this match, following their injuries.
