India meets Bangladesh without Sharma

India and Bangladesh meets once again for their second Test match against each other on December 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM (GMT+8). During their first Test match last week, it was India who took home the victory, following the comeback they made. At the end of that match, the India won their first Test meeting by 188 runs, now grabbing a 1-0 lead against their opponents. They are actually eager to sweep this match, as they lost on their three-game ODI series against the same opponent. There is no room for defeat for India, as they are hungry for a win coming into this game.

These two teams already have exactly 63 meetings against each other; 12 Tests, 39 ODIs, and 12 T20Is. However, when talking about their Test matches against each other, India remains undefeated against Bangladesh, including their first Test match last week. Moreover, the Indian squad is also the one at the advantage when it comes to ODI matches. They have won 31 of those 39 matches, but they unfortunately lost to their last ODI series. That ODI series is the second consecutive ODI series won by Bangladesh at home.

This team managed to bounce back from their recent loss in their ODI series, when they were able to register a 188-run in their first Test. Since they won their first Test match, the Indians secured at least a draw in this series. This is not surprising though as they have yet to lose a Test against Bangladesh, may it be at home or away. During their first Test match, India have been impressive in both the bat and the ball. Additionally, it was Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Siraj, and Cheteshwar Pujara who led India in an emphatic 188-run victory. Moreover, they are lucky that Pujara is finally coming back to form, a relief for India.

Cheteshwar Pujara was the star in this match, scoring 90 and 102 in that match, while Shubman Gill smack 110 runs in the 2nd innings. Shreyas Iyer, and Rashabh Pant both helped India to stabilize their team in the first innings. However, it is unfortunate for India, as they will be without their captain, Rohit Sharma in this meeting.

It is not surprising that Bangladesh lost during their first Test match because their batters were lame during that game. In fact, none of their batters scored more than 30 runs in the first innings. This poor performance kept them to 150, which eventually gave them the loss in that match. Despite the loss, they can get confidence from the fact that debutant Zakir Hasan managed to score 100 runs on that match. This performance impressed many of their fans If he can continue that performance, Bangladesh could be hopeful that they can win their second Test match. Aside from him, Najmul Hossain Shanto also contributed a lot for Bangladesh.

Aside from Hasan’s 100 runs, and Shanto’s 67 runs in the 2nd innings, Shakib Al Hasan also played very well for Bangladesh. He had 84 runs but failed to chase down the target. Additionally, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, failed to be on fire for Bangladesh.
