Hellas Verona fights for survival

Hellas Verona eyes to maintain their spots in the Serie A, by winning against US Salernitana, who already are already eliminated. These two squads are actually part of the squads at the bottom of the league table. Verona is currently at the 16th of the league table with 34 points from their 36 matches, two places above the drop zone. However, Verona can no longer afford to lose more matches, as they could enter the drop zone. Meanwhile, for Salernitana, they no longer have the chance for the Serie A next season. Salernitana are currently at the rock-bottom of the league table, only having 16 points from their 36 matches. The meeting between these two teams is on May 21, 2024, at 12:30 AM (GMT+8).

Verona’s survival hopes were dashed last time out, losing 2-1 against Torino at Stadio Bentegodi. The Gialloblu have managed to climb out of the relegation zone since March, but remain close with 34 points from 36 matches, two points ahead of 18th-placed Empoli. Verona will hope to maintain this trend in their last nine matches. Hellas Verona has not won in their two previous Serie A away matches at Salernitana, and if they lose on Monday, it will be their first loss in a row since falling to Granata and league champions Inter Milan in consecutive matches between December and January. Hellas Verona’s quest to beat the drop suffered a significant blow last timeout, losing 2-1 against Torino. They currently sit 14th in the Serie A table, two points above 18th-placed Empoli. Verona will need to be at their best to secure a season-defining victory on Monday.

Verona will be without Thomas Henry due to suspension and a suspension for the forward, while Juan Cruz is expected to miss the match due to a thigh injury.

US Salernitana

Serie A: US Salernitana

Salernitana nearly caused a major upset against Juventus last Sunday, but conceded a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 1-1 at the Allianz Stadium. The Granata were 13 points adrift of 19th-placed Sassuolo heading into gameweek 37. Their last Serie A victory came in December. A win on Monday would complete the double over a top-flight team for just the second time in their history. They only achieved this feat over Venezia in the 2021-22 season. However, a draw would be their first in consecutive games since August 2023 when they drew against Roma and Udinese. Stefano Colantuono’s men have now gone 19 consecutive games without a win across all competitions. They lost to 15 and claiming four draws since the turn of the year.

Giulio Maggiore and Guillermo Ochoa are ruled out for Salernitana due to knee and muscle injuries, while Jerome Boateng and Norbert Gyomber are doubtful due to muscle problems.

Prediction:

Hellas Verona (1.5)
Odds: -0.88
