Ginebra opens Commissioner's Cup against ROS

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel kicks-off their 2022 Commissioner’s Cup campaign against Rain or Shine (ROS) on September 28, 2022, at 5:45 AM (GMT+8). This will be Ginebra’s first game in the league while ROS already had their first game against NLEX. However, the first game of ROS was spoiled by NLEX as they were defeated by their coach’s former team. On the other hand, Ginebra parades their new recruits with their resident import, Justin Brownlee.

There is no rivalry between Ginebra and ROS, but before Tim Cone arrives for the Gin Kings, ROS are always the team who eliminates them. This will be an exciting match since Coach Yeng Guiao came back for ROS already. His return to his home team brings hope for ROS. Ginebra on the other hand have powerful recruits who deepen the bench of their squad. The arrival of Jamie Malonzo and Von Pessumal brings additional firepower for the team.

ROS is lucky because they finally have Coach Yeng Guiao back on their squad, but it is also one of the reasons they lost on their first game. Since there are additional guys in the squad, the younger ones find it hard to adjust in his system. On their previous game, it is actually a close fight, but they collapsed on the fourth quarter. Since they collapsed, their opponent took over the match, resulting to their loss. This loss spoils the comeback of their coach against its former team. For their upcoming match, they need to make some adjustments, and get used to the system of their returning coach. This squad also needs to be at their best, especially now that they will face an improves Ginebra squad.

Their import, Taylor, needs to continue what he is doing, making his presence felt at the ends of the floor. He is the biggest advantage of ROS as Ginebra sticks to their short import, Justin Brownlee. Additionally, Rey Nambatac also offers help for the Elasto Painters. But for this match, everyone on their squad needs to step up because if not, they will be at the disadvantage here.

This squad had an unexpected early exit in the Commissioner’s Cup, which disappointed a lot of Ginebra faithfuls last conference. Now that Ginebra managed to somehow improve their line-up, many are expecting for them to be contenders. As usual, Ginebra opted for a smaller yet very familiar import, Justin Brownlee which already proved himself in the league. Moreover, the additions of Jamie Malonzo and Von Pessumal are expected to prove themselves for the crowd favorite.

LA Tenorio, Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, and Stanley Pringle. These are the guys expected to lead Ginebra aside from Justin Brownlee. Many are excited to see how the improved Ginebra squad do in this conference dominated by big imports.
