Germany U21 quest for consecutive title

Germany U21 quest for consecutive title

Germany U21 is looking to win against Israel U21, as they seek to start their campaign strong, and try to win consecutive titles. Germany is the defending champions of the contest, and they want to win back-to-back titles. Israel on the other hand wants to escape the group stage with a strong start in the contest. These two teams have played eight games in their history, with Germany being the team with more wins. From those matches, they won five matches, while Israel have yet to win a single match in their history. The remaining three matches from their eight meetings all ended in draw, putting Germany unbeaten in their matches. While Germany already won three Euro Under-21 titles, this is just the third participation of Israel in the contest. This meeting will be on June 23, 2023, at 12:00 AM (GMT+8).

Germany is coming into this game with aims of starting strong in the contest to have a good momentum, as they aim for another title. Coming into this game, they actually have a good momentum already, as they are from a 3-1 comeback win against Switzerland. It was Kevin Schade, Jessic Ngakam, and Nelson Weiper who made a win possible for Germany. Moreover, Germany qualified in the contest after finishing at the top of Group G in the qualifiers. They were able to earn 27 points from their 10 games in the qualifiers, enough for them to have a spot here. In 2021, Germany bagged the title in the contest, after a 1-0 win against Portugal in their finals match. For this contest, Germany only have one goal, and that is to start their title defense positively.

Unfortunate for Germany though, Ansgar Knauff, Jordan Beyer, Patrick Osterhage, and Jan Thielmann all withdrew from their squad. Fortunately, they still have Youssoufa Moukoko, who is expected to lead the Germans for their campaign.

Israel U21

Israel on the other hand comes into this game from a 2-0 loss against Belgium during their last friendly match against Belgium. This loss adds up to their winless record in their last four matches, which is unfortunate. In their history, this is just the third time that Israel qualifies in the Euro U21, but they have yet to escape the group stage. As they play their first game, their first priority is to win as many games they can to escape the group stage. However, in their last five competitive games, Israel were only able to produce less than three goals. Fortunately for them, for the other Under-21 matches, Israel have been gaining medals, which could boost their confidence here.

They will be boosted by the presence of Oscar Gloukh, who have been phenomenal for Israel during their campaign. Additionally, Dor Turgeman is also expected to play a key role here, following his impressive performance.
