England and Iran finally kicks-off the World Cup as they are both hoping they could start the contest impressively. Pressure is kicking within these two team’s systems, as expectations are heavy for these two teams. England is one of the favorites this year, so many are expecting them to win as early as their first game in the contest. As for Iran, coming into the contest, they only have one goal in mind. That is to go past the group stage and enter the Round of 16, and they will start it as early as their very first game.

The meeting of England and Iran in the World Cup is on November 21, 2022, at 9:00 PM (GMT+8). Many are expecting England to be one of the title contenders in Qatar 2022. This is after them, getting close from the title in Russia 2018, and in Euro 2020. However, looking at their progress and training right now, it is clear that they are still far from their goal. As for Iran, they are a team who is no longer new to the World Cup. However, despite qualifying for the World Cup several times already, they never go past the group stage. As England is one of the favorites to win the title, they are hoping to have a strong start so they can build momentum. Momentum is much-needed for them because it is what will keep them going in the competition. However, even before the start of the season, they already faced set of difficulties. This is after losing some of their key players that hurt them big time, as they could have made a difference in their campaign. Expect this team to deploy their strongest squad as early as their first game. They cannot afford to take risk, despite having so much in line. Defense will be the story of their matches, so you could expect them to play well defensively.

Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are facing slight injury worries, and may be available only later in the tournament.

Despite the fact that they are currently the lowest ranked team in their group, no one can underestimate Iran. Over the past months, they proved that they are not an easy team, and are able to surprise their opponents. The Iranians won 15 of their last 20 games across all competitions. In fact, during the qualifying round, they had a quite an easy run, and in the International Friendlies, they proved they can win versus teams like Uruguay. Their defensive foundation is impeccable, they also have quick wingers who can counter attack.

Despite not playing since the start of October due to a calf problem, Sardar Azmoun is still selected for the Iran squad.
