England, Germany, builds momentum for the World Cup

England and Germany is set to meet in their last match before Qatar 2022. Since both are coming from losses for their last match, they are desperate to win this match to build momentum for football’s biggest stage. Hungary defeated Germany on their last meeting while England lost to Italy. In fact these two teams will only play for pride before kicking off their World Cup campaign. A win on their final match is a huge boost of confidence and positivity in their upcoming campaign.

England welcomes Germany in their turf for their final Nations League match on September 27, 2022 at 2:45 AM (GMT+8). In terms of attacks, both Germany and England looks listless in that area; the main reason why they lost their last matches. England is in the bottom of League A’s group 3, resulting them to be demoted in League B. On the other hand, Germany already lost its chance to clinch in the finals after their lost. In easier words, coming into this match, they will just test their tactics for the upcoming World Cup.

With the amount of talented youngsters this squad has, many expected a good run for them. For a squad who was referred as the golden generation, it is disappointing where England is now in the Nations League. In fact, they currently experience their worst goal scoring run for 22 years. They once again fail to score against Italy on their last match, putting their squad in the League B. For their five games, England was surprisingly winless, failing to score in three consecutive matches. The only goal they had was from Harry Kane’s penalty, a simply unacceptable fact for their squad. Since their Nations League match is like this, they thrive to at least win this meeting to at least boost the team’s morale.

Considering that this game is just to take pride, England decided to sit out Ivan Toney, Ben Chilwell, and Marc Guehi in this match. However, John Stones is set to return for England after his ban, and Jack Grealish is now serving his own ban. Additionally, Aaron Ramsdale, Kieran Trippier, Luke Shaw, and Mason Mount are expected to provide fresh legs.

After failing to secure the top spot in the group, Germany already lost its chances to play in the finals of the Nations League. Just like their opponent, Germany also lost in a 1-0 defeat against Hungary. Many got disappointed with how Germany played their campaign in the tournament, failing to win any of their four matches. Pressure now bugs the Germans as they need to make up for the lost time to prepare for the World Cup. At best, Germany can only finish in the second best in their Nations League group, sitting two points behind Italy. All in all, Germany’s campaign in the Nations League have been alarmingly underwhelming. Like England, they are now set to focus on their campaign in the World Cup.

Germany lost their stars, Leon Goretzka, and Manuel Neuer because of Covid-19, prior to their loss agains Hungary. Julian Brandt will also miss this match because of a different illness. Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger is banned in this match. Timo Werner needs to step-up big time to help his squad as he is ineffective from their last matches.
