Denver Nuggets to dominate at home

Denver Nuggets are aiming to draw first blood against the Los Angeles Lakers when they meet for the Game 1 of their conference Finals. Lakers on the other hand is hoping to win the Game 1, as they have a better momentum if they win in Game 1. This will be a battle of the giants as Nikola Jokic is about to face Anthony Davis, who has been dominant this season as well. Nuggets qualified in the Conference Finals when they defeated Phoenix Suns in a Game 6 match. The Lakers on the other hand qualified in the Conference Finals by defeating the defending champions, Golden State Warriors. Both teams had a tough journey before qualifying here, but they were able to prove that they are the best in the West. This meeting will be on May 17, 2023, at 8:30 AM (GMT+8), with the Nuggets playing at home.

The Nuggets have been very dominant at home, which gives them the confidence coming into this match. At home, they have a record of 40-7, which is one of the league’s best records at home this season. Two of those 40 wins at home are against the Lakers, where they are aiming to build from those wins. As this series is expected to be a tight series between the two teams, the Nuggets need to ensure to get all the wins they can. Just like what they did against the Suns, the Nuggets are looking to rely on the duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. However, they cannot do everything, especially they are going against the team who has a very strong squad. Fortunately for the Nuggets, they are strong from both ends of the floor which works at their advantage.

Nikola Jokic and Jamaly Murray continuously do wonders for the Nuggets. While Jokic scores 30.7 points per game, Murray is scoring 25.9 points per game. However, it is unfortunate that Murray is listed questionable here, following an illness. Collin Gillespie on the other hand remains to be unavailable here.

The Lakers on the other hand proves that they are a team who should not be underestimated. Coming from a team who played in the play-in, the Lakers have come so far this season. They were able to take down the defending champions during the semi-finals of the Western Conference. From that match, it is clear that this squad is aiming for a championship run. However, they will face a team who is with the same skills as them. If the Nuggets has Jokic and Murray to rely on, the Lakers has Lebron James and Anthony Davis. However, one of the advantage of the Lakers is the fact that many from their bench are able to fire everywhere. Their deep bench is one of the reasons why they were able to reach this far this season. Consistency will be the Lakers’ key to win in this series.

Lebron James, and Anthony Davis are both expected to lead the Lakers as they are scoring 23.4 and 21.2 points per game. Aside from them, the Lakers are also getting points from D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura, who have been instrumental on their previous games.
