The Denver Nuggets were finally able to win a trophy in the NBA, after a 94-89 win against the Miami Heat in Game 5. This is the first time in their franchise history that the Nuggets won the title in the NBA, despite having stars in the past. What made it more special is that this win is a comeback win, as they were trailing during the halftime. They were led by no other than Nikola Jokic, who chipped in 28 points and 16 rebounds, bagging the Finals MVP award. The Nuggets were able to escape the late fire of Jimmy butler for the Heat. It was a close match, but the Nuggets came out victorious until the last second.

In Game 5, the Heat actually had their chances, leading the Nuggets during the halftime. However, the Nuggets did not back down and do everything to be able to climb back from that defeat. Moreover, Butler had a run for the Heat in the fourth quarter, courtesy of Butler’s eight straight points. In fact, due to this run, they were able to take a one-point lead, 87-86, with 2:45 left. With 1:58 left in the fourth, the Heat were able to claim back their lead. However, Bruce Brown’s offensive rebound gave the Nuggets the lead for the rest of the match. The Heat had the chance to tie the game with 15 seconds left, but the Nuggets did not allow them to have their chances.
The Nuggets took 47 years, and 38 playoff appearances before finally getting their first ever title in their franchise history. Finally, they were able to reach the top of the mountains they have been trying to climb in the past. Although the likes of Nikola Jokic, and Jamal Murray led the Nuggets into this title, it was pure hard work and teamwork that led the Nuggets to the title. All season, the Nuggets have been an outstanding team, so this title is actually not surprising. They were very patient and disciplined, which made them reach greater heights this season. Moreover, one of the reasons why the Nugget were able to win the series, is because they were able to get contributions from other players. Although they have Jokic and Murray, they did not do the work alone, as they got help from their other guys.
