Clippers, to show tight defense vs 76ers

The Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers lock horns for the first time in the regular season this season. These two teams are both coming from a win from their previous matches. The Clippers are from their 126-105 win against the Hornets, where they showed an impressive defense on both ends of the floor. As for the 76ers, they came from a 20-point, 113-93 victory against the Pistons on their last game. On that game, the 76ers are excellent in offense, no wonder they won this match. This meeting will be on December 24, 2022, at 8:00 AM (GMT+8), as the 76ers entertain the Clippers.

During their game against the Hornets, the Clippers showed how capable they are when it comes to defense. Their defense was their key to win that match, with a 21-point lead, which they want to achieve once more in this game. They are currently the 5th in the standings of the Western Conference, with a record of 19-14, and a road record of 8-7. As for the 76ers, their key to their last game was their offense, having a 20-point lead against the Pistons on their win. Just like the Clippers, the 76ers are also at the 5th of their standings in the Eastern Conference. They are with a record of 18-12, and 13-5 from their 18 games at home.

A strong line-up was paraded by the Clippers on their meeting against the Pistons, as Leonard and George are both back for them. Currently at the 5th place of the Western Conference, this team is 1.5 games behind the Nuggets. Although they are very commendable in defense on their previous match, they did well offensively, especially beyond the arc. They consistently knockdown shots on that area, but continues to struggle from the free-throw line. Offensively, they are the worst, as they are averaging 107.6 points per game. In defense, they consistently contest majority of the shots on their last match. Their perimeter defense have been nothing but solid. It is no longer surprising that they are the 3rd in defense, as they surrender only 107.5 points per game.

Paul George continues to lead the Clippers with 23.4 points per game, where he is followed by Kawhi Leonard, who is averaging 15.3 points per game. Norman Powell finally returned for the Clippers, after missing 10 games since November 29. This team is just lucky that they are finally complete, as the playoffs near.

The 76ers are dominant when playing at home, winning 13 games at their home turf. Just like the Clippers, they are also at the 5th of the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games behind the Bucks. On their last game, the 76ers proved that they are capable to make it rain beyond the arc. In fact, they average 38.2% from the three-point line, which is the fourth-highest in the league right now. Additionally, unlike the Clippers, they have been doing well in the free-throw line, 81.7% shooting. In offense, they are now the 20th, averaging 111.8 points per game. When talking about defense, it is very hard to score against the 76ers, but rebounding have been their constant problem. They are at the 2nd spot in defense right now, giving up only 107.4 points per game.

Joel Embiid continues to lead the 76ers, as he is averaging 32.5 points per game, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. Tyrese Maxey and James Harden are also contributing for the 76ers, having 22.9 points, and 21.4 points per game. However, it is unfortunate that Tyrese Maxey is out for this game, due to his foot issues.
