Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil's new coach

Carlo Ancelotti was tapped as the new coach for Brazil, and will lead them for the 2024 Copa America in USA. According to reports, this will be effective by the end of his contract with Real Madrid next year. This news was confirmed by the Brazilian Football Confederation president, Ednaldo Rodrigues. On the other hand, Real Madrid have yet to make a statement regarding this news. This will be the first time that Ancelotti will coach the national team in his coaching career. He replace Tite, who resigned from his position, after their quarter-finals exit against Croatia in the 2022 World Cup. While Ancelotti finishes his contract with Real Madrid, Fernando Diniz is appointed as Brazil‘s interim coach.

Carlo Ancelotti’s take over of Brazil is not that surprising as speculations arise this year that he will be Tite’s successor for Brazil. Ever since this year, he have been surrounded by rumors that he will lead Brazil next year. However, those rumors were all denied by Ancelotti, as he continues his coaching duties for Real Madrid. Now that he is confirmed to take the role as the new coach for Brazil, he needs to wait for another year to fulfill his duties. He made history as he is the first-ever foreign coach appointed by Brazil. Although coaching a national team is no longer new for him, this is the first time that Ancelotti will be the head coach. In 1992 and 1995, he is a part of Italy coaching staff, being the assistant coach for Arrigo Sacchi.

Ancelotti will not yet coach Brazil, as he still needs to finish his contract with Real. With that, Fernando Diniz will take his place first, with a contract for six months or one year. According to Ednaldo Rodriques, he appointed Diniz as he shares the same game plan with Ancelotti. “His (Diniz) game plan is almost similar to that of the coach that will take over at Copa America, Ancelotti,” he said. He also cleared that Diniz’s appointment is a transition for Ancelotti. “We don’t call him an interim coach of the nationsl team. He will come and make the transition in Brazil for Ancelotti,” he added.

Now that he will leave Real Madrid next year, he was able to bring several titles for Real. During his time with Real, he was able to win La Liga, and Champions League. Moreover, he was also able to bring titles from Copa del Rey, and FIFA Club World Cup for Real.
