Brentford dwells on European hopes

Brentford remains optimistic of their chances in the European stage when they go against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Wolves on the other hand is looking to get another win at home in this match. These two teams are coming from different results before this match. Wolves are coming from a 1-0 win against Chelsea, while Brentford is from a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United on their last match. Nonetheless, these two teams are aiming for wins, as they aim for a more safe place in the league table. This meeting will be on April 15, 2023, at 10:00 PM (GMT+8), as the Wolves play as hosts.

From their last seven matches in the league, it looks like it was the hosts who are at the advantage. The hosts had four wins from those seven games, while the visitors only mustered one win, while the remaining two ended in draws. Moreover, during their first meeting in the first half of this season, their meeting ended in a 1-1 draw. In their current campaign, the hosts recorded four wins from their last six league match at home. The visitors on the other hand they are in a two-game losing streak, losing to their last two matches. With that, they are hopeful not to extend this record anymore.

Brentford’s current campaign does not look as optimistic, as they are at a two-game losing streak recently. If this continues, they will slowly lose their thin chances of qualifying for the Europeans. They are actually winless in their last four matches, losing to two, and drawing two as well. Brentford suffered a back-to-back defeats against Man United and Newcastle United, a result they want to put a stop here. This slump puts them to sink in the ninth spot of the league table, and their European hopes are slowly fading already. It is just unfortunate that Brentford were once a solid squad this season, but have been vulnerable recently. A win against the Wolves is a much-needed for Brentford, as they are in dire need of additional points.

Kristoffer Ajer and Keane Lewis-Potter are both unable to return in this match due to their injuries, and are still needing few more weeks for recovery. Pontus Jansson on the other hand is nursing a fresh injury in his thigh, which is also the case for Frank Onyeka.

The Wolves on the other hand finally picked up a win, when they recorded a 1-0 victory against Chelsea on their last match. On that match, it was Matheus Nunes who brought his squad to victory. That win is a must-win for the Wolves, as they need it to halt themselves from dropping to the relegation zone. Wolves are currently at the 13th of the league table with 31 points. However, they are just two points ahead of the squad at the 14th and 15th. With that, they really need to win in this match so they could be farther ahead of the teams below them. Fortunately, their job is not done yet, as they have a chance to stray afloat this season. They just need to record at least two of three wins in their next eight matches in the league.

Nunes is unlikely to play in this match, considering the “very strong” knock he experienced on their last match. Ruben Neves, and Jonny Castro remains to be unavailable in this match due to their suspension. Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho on the other hand are still absent due to their injuries.

Prediction:

Wolverhampton Wanderers (1.0)
Odds: -0.87
