Belgium, Wales hopes to stay in the league for the finals

Belgium and Wales will meet for the Nations League A as they both want to remain in the league for chances to be in the finals. Belgium comes into this match after their 1-0 win against Poland. On the other hand, Wales have different destiny to Belgium. They lost to the Netherlands in a 3-2 defeat. As these two clubs meet, they are hoping for a better results so both can stand a chance to go to the finals.

Belgium will play the Wales on their home turf on September 23, 2022 at 2:45 AM (GMT+8). These two last faced each other earlier this year where their match ended up in a draw. That time, it was Youri Tielmand and Brennan Johnson who scored for Belgium and Wales respectively. Now that they will face each other once again, they are both hoping for a different result as a win is very important for these two squads.

Although their last match against their opponent ended up in draw, for the Belgians, this is a must-win match. Belgium’s motivation to win this match is because they need three more point to remain adrift to the Netherlands. As they experienced a 4-1 defeat on matchday 1, it is already an enough proof that Belgium needs to work harder. They are in-need of more wins to be able to catch-up with their group. At the end, their fate in the tournament remains in their own hands on how will they keep on playing for their remaining matches. For this squad, they no longer have room for defeats, as a defeat in this match will cost them a lesser opportunity in the finals.

Luckily for the Belgians, numbers of their star players will finally return for them including Kevin De Bruyne. Thibaut Courtois, Dedryck Boyata, and Jason Denayer will also return to their respective positions. All in all, it is indeed luck that comes in the way of the Belgiums.

As a team who earned a spot for the World Cup, it is safe to say that Wales finally achieved some new heights under their new manager. However, despite that success, they are actually not doing well in other competitions. In fact, they only won two matches from their last eight matches across all competitions. Those wins were against Austria and Ukraine in the World Cup qualifiers playoffs. They only gained one point from a possible 12 against Poland, Netherlands, and Belgium in this tournament. Just like their opponent, if they want to go further in the tournament, they can no longer afford to lose.

Gareth Bale is expected to return for the Wales. Neco Williams and Rhys Norrington-Davies may also see action for this squad. Additionally, Joe Morrell, and Matt Smith may play in the center of the pitch with the absence of Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey.
